For help on opening your firewall to play any Close Combat version refer below to the ports and then click on the link.

Quote:
If you are playing behind a firewall or proxy server, the ports 47624, and the range 2300-2400 must be open for both inbound and outbound TCP and UDP traffic.

Anyone know how to make Norton Antivirus 2005 allow computer to access GameSpy rooms?

I've created general rules protocols to open above ports: 2300-2400 and 47624, as well as ports recommended by GameSpy, but still have trouble logging. Not sure if I'm doing the right thing.

All I can do is login into home page at this stage.

I'm a noob with routers though Rolling Eyes

Hi, Mooxe, all.

With the help of Mooxe I determined that my port forwarding was set up ok on my router, however something was still preventing me from playing.

In the end I found that uninstalling and reinstalling Zone Alarm was the key. Apparently over time it can have conflicts in allowing/denying connections and uninstalling completely, and making sure it is completely out of the registry, and then reinstalling can clear this up. It's important to remember that even if you shutdown a firewall your connections may still remain closed. Most firewalls have a "safety feature" that ensures that your system is not wide-open to attack even if a hostile program manages to disable it somehow.

I can now play and host games on Gamespy or elsewhere running high security on both my router and my software firewall. Hope this helps someone.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
