The title says it all.  Can anyone tell me how its done, where to find the right tools & any stuff already written about how to mod sound in TLD  I really need to mod some the voice cues, especially the British ones & also cut the theatical screams!  I'll have open the SFX files - I tried using a tool called "sfx - tools" but it didnt work on CCTLD.  Any help much appreaciated.

Hi,
SFXPack is the editing program I used.
It's at CCS ... linked here:

http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Downloads&op=getit&lid=592

It's pretty simple to use.
1) Create a new folder, and put a copy of the .sfx file (you want to edit) into it. For ease of navigating ... "Local Disk (C: )" is a good place to put the new folder
2) Start the sound edit program by double clicking on the SFXPack.exe icon
3) Select "Unpack" and then "Open SFX file"
4) Navigate and locate the folder you just made (with the .sfx file inside)
5) Click the folder, then double click the .sfx file
6) The .wav files are now unpacked in a folder named "Wave" inside the folder where the .sfx file is. Close/exit SFXPack
7) Open the "Wave" folder and figure out which sounds you want to edit
8 ) Edit the .wav files you want to change
9) Start the sound edit program. Select "Pack" then "Select Dir" ... from the SFXPack menu bar
10) Navigate to the folder containing the "Wave" folder.
11) Click the "+" sign beside it ... and then click the "Wave" folder ... and then click "OK"
12) The newly packed .sfx file is located in "Local Disk (C: )" ... and is named "out.sfx"
13) Rename the file to its original name. Example: "Sound.sfx"
14) Backup (make a copy of) the original .sfx file, and then put in the new (edited) one

Also, the "theatrical screams" are located in the "Sound.sfx" file ... 0055 - 0072

You can also use ccsoundedit to listen to the sounds without extracting anything, just so you know what number they are or just to look for sounds you like in mods or stock games in a quick way. it works with CC2 through the newer releases.

It has an option to replace sounds but it is easier to use the tool SFXPack to actually modify the sound files as David says.

Thanks again for your help guys.  I've done some work on the sound by replacing the theatrical screams with bullet pass-bys & impact to indicate a hit. The effect is pretty damm good! I'm making an AI mod at the moment & I'll incorperate this.  Anyone wanting to use the sound before then just pm me & I'll send you the sound.fx file.
