Another example I believe of the complexities of AI.  In general, Units will turn to face the peceived threat.  That's part of the CC Logic.  However no tank without power turret rotation and sophisticated targetting and suspension systems would turn the hull while trying to fire at an enemy is it?

German tank discipline was to fire when stationary (Panzer Leader - Heinz Guderian ?).  The odds of hitting a target while moving are significantly lower, even if firing in the direction of travel.

So you have 2 (at least) concurrent AI mechanisms.  One for the positioning of the vehicle, and one for firing.  What about the Psych AI?  It will still be operating too.  When they do conflict, what happens?  CC is full of this.  While most of the time it works reasonably well, sometimes the results are dire.

90% of the time for me they have proven dire in COI.  Rolling Eyes

They don't skate. Although they do tend to turn way to damn much when aiming. The turret will rotate and get a shot but then the body will turn requiring the turret to turn again delaying the shot. It's cost me quite a few tanks during my two current COI GCs.

That's not just a COI issue, I believe this happens in every version, though I only have CC4, CC5 and WaR.

Hey Schrecken, I can't seem to find the beta version at Matrix Games. I'm signed in as a member, (Skijager) and can't find it in the latest downloads.

I don't need the file because I got it here at CCS, but I'd still like to locate it at MGs.

I asked the same thing at Matrix and received a response that WAR and TLD should have updates soon but he did not mention COI.

No, disrespect I'm glad the game is still being updated. I got my digital copy of CoI yesterday, it was well worth the money.  Very Happy

I wish I could purchase a copy of the manual separately.

Nice! Now you'll have to meet up with one of the regular COI players (Myself, Dampsquib, Tigercub just to name a few...) and we can get a operation going or something.

With the release of the Beta patches for WAR and TLD I wonder if they will get around to releasing a final COI patch...

This is the BETA patch and has been superceded by the official version 3.50.01.
