Wouldn`t it be go for mapmakers if we could create a database (subsite, per forum, or just an upload collection) of terrain objects and buildings?

That would make the creation of maps easier, and perhaps thius way we get more/better maps, or just faster.

Could be just a collection of all kind of map graphics and such.

Great idea!
But most mapmakers keep their textures under lock&key...and they should.
Making map textures/objects/buildings is hard work.
There's plenty of maps from released mods that we can 'steal' stuff from though Wink
You'll need to do some graphics editing to extract the objects from released maps...and build your own library from those.

Libraries from map editor programs of games like Blitzkrieg and Faces of War are also a good source for objects.

Perhaps we even find some people kind enough to share their work. I mean they dont loose anything, I would be glad to see my graphics used by others and to see new maps created.

I don't think map makers would mind sharing map objects that have been 'released' on their maps. I think some map makers hold back their custom artwork/objects used for unreleased maps/projects...if they release the objects prematurely...keeping the new maps as fresh as possible.

Would be fine if they only share their already used objects and textures.

We will see if the artists are friendly enough. Very Happy

For those of us who are "graphically challenged" Blitzkrieg II would have been the ideal solution but for two problems:

1. The buildings are unmoddable from within Blitzkrig II

2. Rivers are pretty primitive

Mafi has upgraded his 5CC to v1.08 adding graphic libraries. Originally 5CC was designed to add the tree graphic, the tree shadow and the tree code to maps though there is no reason it couldn't be used for other graphics like buildings.

I have a bunch of updates too, I should make a new set up and have it hosted here.. you guys need a section with this and the CSO one is dated.

Map Making guide as well, this already has had version # as well I need to finish and upload, preferably here (CCS)

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
