Yes this made headline news here in the U.S. as well. Amazing you Krauts really are superb engineers. Although the primary reason why this plane has lasted for so long in pristine condition was due to its aluminum materials. If it was steel it would have rusted away.
Believe it or not, here in California - we have rare He 162A-1 Volksjager and Me 163 Komet in museum. Also one of my favorite planes a completely restored FW190 that goes on tours and still flies. Probably not the original engine in the FW190 but still it is very rare to still see one flying. This place even lets you reserve passenger flights on warbirds.
