capable of taking 13 frames a second as well as recording sound.
and playing back as a movie.
excellent quality thou my first recording a 18 min game,finished as a 535mb
file.
i have not explored the options as of yet.

just some tips on recording games to get file smaller.
i record in avi format at 1 frame per second.(wound back from 15)
file will be smaller if game played in 800 x 600
largest is 1024 x 768
if playing in 1024 dont record the strat screen before game
this freaks it out and makes it record in 800 x 600
leaving audio sounds out of recording help reduce size as well
but its much fun to watch with sounds,i have tried adjusting the stereo settings
but its original setting records best.
this tool has duel benifits for training purposes.
bug spotting.
and just for seeing ur fuks up in game.

I get a codec error when I try to play the video you made. I have media player 10 with auto codec download ON. I also tried divx player, same plroblem. Any ideas?

The problem is most likely this...
The video was encoded using the "Tech Smith" codec
Thats the default codec camtasia uses.
There is an option in Camstasia to change that codec to something
else before you record a movie. I would suggest
"Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2" to record movies
if you wish others to be able to view them easily.
Most people will already have this codec so they wont get
any errors when they watch a movie encoded with it.

Ok I downloaded the video in question ...I think its the
Merc War Wruff vs L4W last battle.avi that is being talked
about here right? Ive got a tool which can exam video files
and report back what codec they were encoded in.
Its reporting back that the movie was encoded using TSCC (tech smith
screen capture codec). This is the default codec camtasia uses
to record a movie. Unfortunately its not a common codec so
people on other pcs will likely run into problems watching it. This
is the problem. They need that paticular codec TSCC to watch
this movie.
Right now people can watch if if they have downloaded and installed
the camtasia trial. (doing this will install the necessary TSCC codec to view
your movie) or they can install just the TSCC codec seprately which can
be obtained here (170kb size) This would probably allow someone
like Pvt_Grunt to watch it.

To avoid this problem in the future you should consider choosing to record
movies in a more common codec. This is done by going to....
Start-->programs-->Camtasia Studio-->applications-->Camtasia recorder-->tools--->options--> video setup.
Inside video setup you will see a list of codecs to choose from.
choose a common codec such as "Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2"
or "Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1". Any windows pc should
have these fresh from the factory.
This forces camtasia to use a common codec instead of its own
uncommon default codec when it records a movie , so the
final result will be a movie that anyone should be able to view
without the need to download camtasia or codecs.

yes i see this tool staying in the cc community for a long time.
u can do ur own commentary over the top of it
write ur headers for it.
the sound and video recording r just the base features of this programme.
as a group we will eventually sort out the best settings for the best and smallest files.
if u bought a 50 pack of dvds,u could record a whole grand campaign
with a lil header for each battle and on what day it was
or even a th tournament.
for me the main thing they could improve on the programme,is to have a resolution bigger than 1024x768.my natural prefernce is to play in 1280 size
