Hey guys, an error with CC5 installation.

I had this game for like 7 years, played on an XP, then a Laptop, both worked. But until now, on my Windows 7 computer, it won't install. And also now, it doesn't install on the XP. It only works on a laptop for some reason. Well, I can install it with the secondary install, but not the full install. Also, when I pick 'Full install', it only downloads 2% of it, any ideas?

I've also cleaned it as much as I can...

Does it error out after awhile? Or just hang at 2% for more than 5mins?

Erm, I'm trying right now... But after a few minutes, like 10+, it will say there was an error

Try installing it on another location, preferably another partition

I have found a new error, when I close setup, it says it's not responding, and the toolbar disappears, so I have to restart my computer.

CRC error, definitely the disk. Although some CDROM/DVD drives may be able to read it, yours does not. Have a backup? If not I can provide you one.

Try washing your CC5 CD with soapy luke warm water. Dry it gently, wiping from the center to the outside edges (never in circular patterns), and give it some time to air dry. CDs are physical media, not electronic so water will not hurt the disk. This is how I clean my disks when they are extremely dirty. CDROMs do have a shelf life but it varies, depending on all sorts of conditions.

Well, I've still got it on my laptop, and works perfectly, so I can just copy the files on to here, I'd see if that works... And then if that doesn't I'd clean it.  And yes, I don't have a backup disk of CC5, but I do have the Backup files and normal files on my laptop.

Guys, found a new error that I got from CC3, 'Can't Access Surface For Lock' Any ideas?

By the way, I got CC5 on my computer through the Memory Stick Method

May work, may not. Newer version of DirectX may not have all the options you see in that screenshot. Its a video thing though, mess with your video card drivers if above solution doesn't work.

I can't mess around with it, so I may need to get another CD...
