I think this mod may have bitten the dust.

Lost the motherboard in my computer, turned it loose to a bunch of fuckwits to replace it and right now (after over two weeks pissing around) it looks like they've managed to wipe the harddrive. just a clean windows install left

All my patched software gone, all files in pictures, vids, docs gone All RSR maps gone, all of textures gone, in excess of a thousand google earth images that I was using gone.

i wonder if anyone's ever been killed for fucking up someone elses computer?

Thankfully I had saved my really important documents to dropbox but gigs of mapping stuff was just too much

I'll go back and see them tomorrow but judging on what I can see there's nothing left

If that is indeed true, then that is a most horrible thing that has happened. I hope that you are wrong about your prognosis. I had a laptop where the motherboard went bad but I never rely on just the HD as I have an external HD for backup.

Really feel your pain SL. Had the same issue once (perhaps twice) and these days I am storing my files on a NAS.
However, a clean windows install does not necessarily wipe out all your data. Only the overwritten data according to some links I found after I ran a google search. And you could try something like this: http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm?gclid=CLWn6YvEi74CFdShtAodhQEADw .

Hey Southern Land

Any update on retrieving those fab lost maps. What a shame . Those idiots should have done a data backup before a fresh clean install . Its standard practice for PC repair shops to do this . Mind you I have a prog called Glary Utillities ( free ) and its capable of recovering lost files on a disc which has not bee fully wiped . Sad

About 99% postive they're hsitory. Trouble is despite spending a ton of cash on the computer, it's still not working right so i can't tell for sure

I'm currently going through the 'fun' of buying a house so don't have any spare cash to spend on computers for another 6-8 weeks I'll see after that

Make sure to have a spare room, small will do - no natural light and no clocks to distract you from future map drawing endeavors!
