Hi Guys,

I am trying to mod Gateway to Caen. I created 3 new allied units in the unit structure Data sheet, a Royal Marine Company (consisting of 3 royal marine platoons) , a Royal marine Platoon (consisting of 3 royal marine sections) and a Royal Marine Section (consisting of two Royal Marine teams). They have the unit class Id´s 354-356 (company 354, platoon 355 and section 356).

I also created 2 new allied teams in the allied teams data sheet, a Royal Marine command squad (team id 65) and a royal marine standard fireteam (team id 66).

It is no problem to add those two teams (65 and 66) to an already existing structure (ie to the Rifle Section with the unit id 13) but If I add my new structure via the forcepools data sheet to an existing battelgroup I only see unused slots ingame ("unused by this platoon").

Long story short, its no problem for me to add new teams to the game and put them into an already existing structure, but if I create a new structure and add it to an existing battlegroup I only got unused slots ingame.

What am I doing wrong? Do I have to tinker with anything else other than the unitstructures, alsteams and forcepools data tables to add new units (Company, platoon, section) to the game?

If I create a platoon that has 6 marine teams in team 1 to team 6 instead of having 3 subunits with two teams each it works if I add the (newly created) platoon to an already existing Rifle company. But my Marine company with 3 marine platoons as subunits still shows only blanks were the teams should be, so it has to be a problem with the subunits.

Post the 3 lines of data you added to UnitStructure. Ive run into the "unused by this platoon" issue and its usually turned out to be an error I made in that file.

One problem I see at first look is your Royal Marine Commandos Platoon includes a team class 68 instead of 65 but I doubt thats the main issue. Will take a closer look later.

Hi Mick,

The team with the id 68 is a newly created royal marine command team, I forgot to mention that. My problem has to have something to do with the subunits, I just cant firgure it out.

Couple of things to check. You created 3 new units (354, 355, 356) so the unit count at the beginning of UnitStructure.txt should be 357. The original file has a count of 353 but actually should be 354 since the count starts with unit 0. So if your unit count is 356 its causing the game not to see unit 356 (Royal Marine Commandos Section 356)

Try using a unit count of 357 at the top.

Not really your fault since the original file is slightly goofed and misleading about unit count. Unit 353 - Nachrichten und Aufklarung Zug - isnt be seen by the game, which only reads to unit 352.
