try compability mode for win 98...
use a Fat32 C: partition with win98(for older games) / D: Win Xp
download the latest nvidia driver, but search for driver from your manufacto no the common releases...

cc5 usually works with xp

go CC5.exe -> Options -> Compability mode -> set win98...

if thats not working, here is what you should the next time u format hdd...

1)

patition a plain HDD into e.g. 10 Gb (for Win98 fat32) and one with 30 Gb for XP (NTFS)

install win 98 on the C: partition.. after that install XP on D: partition...

whenever you are going to start your pc now, Windows will ask you which
operating system you wanna start....

under W98 CC5 runs on fast maschines without a prob...

walkaround solution:

there is a small prog called "Abandon Loader" - specialiced to make opld game s running on newer hardware...

and maybe you shpuld stick to the installdirectory given you by cc5 install prog... C:Program Files\ssi\...

Well I got the game started but then after 5 minutes or so it locks up and I get the error message
"Informs directdraw that the previous bit which is transfering information to or from this surface is incomplete"
I think it is realated to the Nvidia card - driver although I read somewere that it could be directx 9 releated issue.

disable direct X

Forget words, actions will show your true ambitions! The Battlefield,In many cases, the terrain of a battlefield can be the best resource a commander has. A clump of trees, an abandoned house, or a drainage ditch can all be powerful tools in the right hands

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
