I'm taking a look about to produce a real and playable version of OpenCombat project in the next years. The first goal is to produce a very minimal playable Close Combat clone game. In 2D for sure. this game will be an open source game with free license.
To be able to produce that, I need some graphical resources. More important for now:
* Soldier/Tank top view sprite sheet
* Explosions sprite sheet
I have no graphic designer able to help me. I know a lot of people have produced graphic resources here. Si I search people able to publish already done or new work (or part of it, like soldier/Tank top view sprite sheet
and/or explosions sprite sheet) in free license. Like Creative Commons or other. Or if you know already existing resources in free licenses ...

See Sprites.zip for SoldierB and Vehicle graphics extracted from LSA files.
Note these aren't in 'sheet' form but individual .TGAs for soldiers and folders with .TGA and hotspot info for vehicle turrets/hulls. See reserved soldier colors.gif for legend as the game paints each type and nationality differently.
Will also post the Gun graphics as well as the GTC explosions, the latter considered the best CC effects.
As far as I know, the sprites for soldiers file (Soldier for normal view and SoldierB for zoomed mode) were designed initially by Atomic Games and published by Microsoft, and subsequently held the copyrights for them. The first version was Close Combat released in 1996. For a brief history you could check here:
the only versions which had 2 modes for gameplay (normal and zoomed) and used 2 separate set of sprites for soldiers and textures were Close Combat 2 A Bridge Too Far and Close Combat 3 The Russian Front. The rest of version used only one set of sprites for soldiers and textures (the normal view).

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
