Gamespy is used, I don't promote it here anymore though.
GameRanger offers a more slim platform to launch games from. Its a small application, which doesn't do much other than launch your games. It also tunnels through your firewall. I have proven that by manually blocking my ports and still hosting games. I am not saying that works on everyone's connection though, but it has helped people play. You can also set a filter up so you see ALL Close Combat games hosted, not just what you have installed. The image attached is how my filter looks.
GameRanger also launches TLD, WaR and LSA. I do see some people having troubles with them now auto connecting. Atleast you can still host a game, and manual connect if need be.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
