So, my new project is to make a WW II Pacific Front mod for GTC.  I was prompted to do this since for some reason neither the Okinawa for CC5 or PacificMod for CC3 work for me!!  I have taken the resources for those two games and will be using them for this mod.  If you have any other suggestions on resources or anything in general, I'd like to hear them!

If there is enough interest, I will keep everyone up to date on this thread.

Wow! That is great. Yes I have coincidentally been playing Okinawa Mod last night. Flame Tanks were really enjoyable while  wiping out enemy strong holds (Grill them up from about 60 meters away...) It really felt awesome and realistic, because IMO, flame tanks are the symbol of the battle in pacific. However, you have to wait and align your tank first, which is a pain. Just a quick improvement could be the mounting of flame thrower on turret rather than bow for the flame tank.  Actually, it would also be historically accurate, as seen on this article,

http://olive-drab.com/idphoto/id_photos_m4_sherman_flamethrower.php

a total of 176 flame tanks (late version M4A3R3 Zippo)  with  turret mounted flamethrowers were employed  in the okinawa campaign. This is also evident from many photos of these tanks in action. Just a quick modification to vehicles.txt Wink

Flame tanks will definitely be there!  The mod is going to cover the spectrum of the war...from losing Corregidor to taking Iwo/Okinawa...

That's a good theater to focus on. There isn't a lot of mods focused on the Pacific. Maybe focussing on New Guinea or on Saipan could be a goosd place to set it in.

Another Suggestion: I would also like it, If the uniforms of both sides were to be improved. For Instance, There should be distinction between Marines and U.S. Army. Marines apparently had lighter brown camo on helmet and plain green uniform. The uniform colors of japanese marines and regular army should depict the real colors as closely as possible, too.

A nice article about U.S. Flame Vehicles in WW2. Apparently, Flame Tanks in Okinawa were H1 variants, which had Flamethrowers inside the 75 mm barrel with the cost of having no main gun. According to article, tank crew had complained about having no main gun. The Flame Tanks with two barrels (H5 Variant), Icon of which is falsely shown in team Selection screen of the Okinawa mod, first appeared in Korea War.

Except one map, when I click play it always says "[name of the map].txt" corrupted. I also tried the files from closecombat.org.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
