MOOXE - German
Infected - Russian
A couple airstrike crashes but pretty stable so far. Four days in.
Kuporsonoye will give us problems I think. Its the final battle of the day and it crashes every time afterwards. Tried many combinations of host/client and type of win.
Spent about six hours hex editing the file and I was able to remove the Russian and German BG and make it to the next day. However, I am not sure what come on effects this will have. More crashes, corrupted BG... who knows.
If someone here could try the file and see if they could make it to next turn I'd appreciate that. Kuporsonoye is the 3rd battle in from this file.

Yeap made it through, crisis averted.
Been a good GC so far. Originally started by Guzi I asked Infected for something already started. I believe it was still day one. I really dislike slogging through the initial "beach" maps of any game.
Lots of strategy being used to cut off BGs and manipulate deploy zones. About 19 days left and casualties are high. A few precarious situations are unfolding for both of us. The Russian do have a solid line of tank BGs in the center, but I have wriggled my way behind one to cut them off.

I really like the strategic map for Stalingrad. A lot of people cant stand the CC4-CC5 system. But I like it.
I love with Stalingrad how the Germans are supposed to attack a city, but its first surrounded by hills, forests and bridges. Kind of like "The road to Stalingrad". And so its kind of like a siege. You get this cool feeling of impending doom as the Germans surround the city and push inwards.
I have never made it that far, but if the Germans got the maps by the Volga river, then we would see Russian BG redeployments at the ports. Simulating the Russian counter attacks over the river. Much like the Enemy at the gates film.
I hope you make it that far.
The bugs and crashes are ridiculous.

Nice Video
good assault on my beloved KV...
As far as the score goes The Germans and Commander Mooxe are a potent combo. But I have much fun and mooxe is a fair and honest opponent that's all i can ask for.

I noticed a while back we were closer in tank kills however it seems i have taken a commanding lead do to my tanks at Barracks hill being out of supply and counting as damaged also on one other map Scupturny Park where two of my tanks out of supply always record as damaged my T34 and ol flamey! Both are on Mooxe's most wanted list. Hehe! I will loose both soon either to mooxe or loosing them through disbanding!

I read some old posts on the GCs and some people were saying the winner is sometimes decided by the 20 or 21'ish. I don't know their settings. I do think its an inevitable win for the Germans only because of infantry but in our GC thats too soon to call. You sure have a load of T-34s and KV-1s left, partly my fault though as I'm avoiding most of them. I am definitely outnumbered in the medium tanks with 75mm guns, and have no heavy tanks to match against your 30 odd KV-1s.
Mechetka is by far the map I hate the most. I suppose I should have assigned more support there to take out your guns. That map just incredibly favours the defender. Each ridge is like its own battle. Was to costly for me to break out of your defence.
Now I have to deal with the one KV in your 92 Rifle Bde.... Each KV kill is a win!
I'll have to make a compilation video of wierd or notable things that happen in the GC. My MG34 team killing themselves would be a good start...

This is how Barracks Hill started last round. Two staggered lines of armour. Four T34s facing a PZ3 at main barracks. PZ3 takes out Command T34. Below, a hidden gun takes out two PZ4s before it dies, PZ3 taken out by unknown unit.
I have the Russians cut off from supply. They still have around 25 T-34s though.
Germans lost 3 PZ4s and 2 PZ3s, Russian lose two T-34s and their last ATG/Field gun.
Lessons re-learned...
1. If you tell a tank to defend in another direction, it will only move its turret if theres a target there. If no target they will move hull and turret.
2. Fixed gun vehicles (marder/stug) need to be on ambush in the direction you want to defend. If on defend, they will rotate to engage infantry giving opportunity for side rear shot of enemy tank.

I rarely have men/ATG/Tanks that survive multiple battles but here's a few that have made it.
I also have a trio of AA guns on Mooxes favorite map Mokraya Mechetka that have done well i'll post one picture of my best AA.

Day 21 now. Score relatively unchanged.
Did a very rough armour count.
Russians have about 60 medium tanks (T34) with 75mm guns. 30 heavy tanks (KV1) with 76mm guns. They have a considerable amount of two man light tanks (T60/T70) as well.
Germans have around 65 medium tanks (pz3, pz4, marder, stug) of 50mm to 75mm guns. Germans also have comparable amount of armoured cars or cars with guns on the deck.
All in all, the difference in armour is worrisome considering the German armour is dispersed among more than twice as many BGs as the Russians. Russians have three BGs with approx. 20-25 T-34s each. The fourth "T34 BG" has been reduced to about 8. They have one BG with 30 KV1s.
German major advantage is outclassing Russian infantry in morale and experience in almost every BG.

Well my money is on the Germans to win i'll fight as hard as possible but the Germans vet soldiers plus the amount of ATG guns they have imo is a enormous advantage in killing Russian tanks. Plus did I mention mooxe is a very good player :)
BTW mooxe killed two of my three AA Guns on Mechetka very disappointing. One was ambushed by one of his ATG the other was kill either air or arty I can't remember, Supa Killer is still in the game and getting kills though

I have been putting up with an extremely tough defence. There are very few breakthroughs and almost no decisive battles. Loki is certainly winning the kill count most maps.
However theres been two recent developments. First, the impenetrable Russian armour line has been pushed back in the center. Now the armour belt goes from RO Settlements-Meat Plant-Mamayev Kurgan-Dogliy Gully-Stadium. Chuikov's HQ has a weak infantry unit in it, but Loki is letting me waste my men on them while the armour wait a map behind. Most of these maps are almost impossible to attack into from the West. Loki's strategy may create a situation where a late offensive by the Russians will turn the tide.
The second development was a successful infantry assault into STZ North. I was able to capture about 3/4 of the useful parts of the map. Depending on how next battle goes up there, the Northern sector may fall sooner than later.
The GC has been very high stakes and enjoyable. We are both very in tune with the grand strategy. There's a chess game happening on the strategic map, and checkers on the maps themselves.

As of the 23rd the Germans gained a minor victory.
Most notable event was taking Mokraya Mechetka and destroying the occupying BGs only KV-1 on the 22nd. The KV and all the fixed guns of this BG held me up since the 14th. The Russian BG was out of fuel and retreated on the next strat move.
Infected's armour line dominating the center of the map has not been engaged in days. German BGs continue to exploit through the North where there is a serious lack of Russian armour. However, facing his armour line are my tanks, just as idle. The battles have gone close combat with all infantry.
