7 day operation.

Day one.
This op begins on a minor russian victory.

Lambi vs Mooxe.
Lambi did a great job making a break and gaining good ground in our opening attack in Sculpturny Park.

Battle in Red October Settlements (Meeting Engagement). Lambi vs Mooxe. Game crashed at mid way point so mooxe and I rebuilt to territory.
Pzt forwards their lines.

-----

I took over at the Meat Plant. Wruff vs Sick.

I forwarded position and got their flanks with no loss of Pzt armor. 1 T34 damaged and a russian ATG destroyed.

Final battle of the first round. Dolgly Gully. Russian attack.

Right at the start they lose a T60 to our Pak38.

I assaulted their rear to try to cut off their retreat path.
Running into enemy teams and a T70. Killing russians and damaging the enemy tank. Tough tank wouldn't die and continued firing upon the german assault teams.

Result:

Op result after 1 round of fighting.

Round 2 comming up.

Round 2, Day 1.

Mercs pulled out of the south as expected. All other engagements remain.

Lambi fought Dima first two battles of the round. Things going well in the first battle, though Pzt bitten hard at the RO Settlements.

I picked up the file to finish up round 2.

Wruff vs Mooxe at the Meat Plant to finish the first day of fighting.

Mooxe grouped his T34's together. A tough PzIII broadsided a couple to death. Forwarded some ground without many losses.

Result:

On to day 2.

Day 2. Morning.

Mac vs Mooxe
Mac fighting mooxe at Sculptory Park where the Pzt attack continues forward.
Cleared the south. Here's how it ended.

Mac vs Vladimir
Then Mac fought Vladimir at RO Settlements where Pzt attacked in.
A little room to breath at RO.

Wruff picking up the fight at the Meat Plant vs Vladimir to finish up round 3.

Wruff vs Vladimir
Forwarding the Pzt lines and close infantry assault on enemy armor.

Result.
Killed enemy T60 and captured a T34 and a T70.
Looking at the file they also lost another of the damaged T34's.

Strat is next for afternoon of day 2.

Day 2. Afternoon round.

Penguin vs Dima at Sculptory Park:
Cleared the south.
Result:

Wruff vs Sickf
Red October Settlement.
Killed a couple more of their precious T34's with our Paks and cleared some ground.
Lost a halftrack and shortbarrel PzIV.
Result:

We continued on to the Meat Plant.
Faced off against enemy armor and cleared the ridge overlooking enemy position.
Result:

Mac picked it up in the south vs Vladimir at Dolgiy Gully where the russians attacked.
Mac vs Vladimir
Mac Report: "I took the fight straight up the gut. It was the perfect Urban setting for this kind of an assault. Vladimir did everything right, but the Germans were on a roll here, and the Reds folded from the start. With supressing fire I moved through the buildings and gave covering fire with the Stug IIIE's. I also ran an ATR up with the advancing Shutzen teams which was a nice ace to pack in the deck. The ATR ended up taking out two of his T60s."

On to day 3.

Day 3

Wruff vs Zappi
Sculptory Park:

Enemy T34 immobilized by airstrike. Wehrmacht T70 turns the corner and moves up the road facing off with enemy ATG while german teams move in.

Assault on the Theatre.

Though german survivors held position at games end the russians got lucky and retained the deploy.

Result:
Forwarding position and pushing back the hordes.

Moving on to the AFTERNOON OF DAY 4:

Wruff vs Zappi

Here's how strat looked:
Mercs attacked in the south and pulled out of the Meat Plant.

Feinted in the south and attacked in the north.
One of our guys took the building in the north with time to spare, but the result showed that it's contested at best. Arrrrgh.

No loss of tanks. Song remains the same at the Park.
Maybe can get into the house in the north. We'll have to look at the file and see.

RO Settlement. Continuing the attack into RO Settlement.
Wruff vs Zappi

Lambi vs Zappi
Dolgly Gully. Russians attacking with KV1 BG.

Mac vs Dima
Sculpturny Park. Killing the russians and forwarding our lines.

Mac vs Dima
RO Settlement.
This map is hell against strong enemy ATG. Held on. LOS everywhere.

Mac fighting Dima in Dolgly Gully where the enemy is now out of fuel.

Pzt forwarding position and attacking into the rubble of Lazur.
Wruff vs Zappi
It was a MESS. Rockets, Artillary, enemy flame teams, ATG's.
Zappi met me there with many teams. Our boys did well in the initial assault, then were thrown back.
A counter assault secured the VL again....

Then an enemy flamer came in on a total roll. Flamin the frick out of everything and taking back the vl. Wasn't pretty.
We're still there and some good cover for next deploy.
Didn't lose any armor. Ememy AT is weak here.
Here's the result and that flame freak. Shooting flame 50m in all directions!
Look at our soldat running with his ass on fire. lol

To conclude the war.

Pzt carefully winning the armor war and finally able to get their infantry h2h against the russian infantry as planned in the latter rounds and letting loose the German panzers in force. Gaining momentem and forcing the merc hordes onto their rear maps. Cutting merc supply and launching final offensives.

Breakout at Lazur:

Forcing russians to pull their hammered BG out of RO Settlements and replacing with another weakened BG with little AT left to hold on which was then routed 2 rounds later by the stronger German panzer BG. The routed russian BG would not return as merc BG's were on both of their supply depots providing Pzt a path to capture the enemy rear in the final day.

Great fight. Both sides gave it everything they had. Very tough fighting, strategy and tactics from start to finish.

Pzt victory at Stalingrad.

Yes Schimpf. I want to get a shot of the overall results as well. I'll get a shot of that tonight and post it here.

Also. I'm going to post this operation (Operation Black) for the public to have. I'm just going to change the neutral maps to meeting engagements so that there's no pre-requisite for first moves (Making center maps neutral rather than having pre-requisite for first strat as in organized team event). Will make it playable for public without really tipping any balance in the design.

You won, but at a high cost!

It's interesting that germans had higher casualties in men and equipment (except tanks) than the russians! But it is a win, nevertheless.

The op starts off as a russian victory. So the russians were fighting from set defensive (ambush) positions. The germans were attacking throughout the op and had to gain a lot of ground to get the win (assault). Naturally the germans are going to be more vulnerable in their attack posture than the russians in their defensive posture.
It costs a lot more to overrun a position than it does to defend it.
Usually the case that the the more aggressive (attacking) side will take more casualties.

This was a great battle and tough fight 4 sure, good job on everyone who participated. Hey Wruff is it possible to post screenshots on the bgs that were invovled, I just wanted to see if those russian BGs had many guns? I saw the mercs used a whole bunch of armor but only 7 gun deaths vs 30 something for the attacker is a bit weird!

I posted Operation Black over in the custom scenarios forum for public download. You can check it out if you like as I don't have screenshots of all the BG's.

The germans have more ATG's, though the Russian ATG's are generally more powerful.
Pak38 with the 5cm gun for germans is the usual vs the 7.62mm Divisional Gun for the russians.

Germans also have smaller guns such as the 2cm flak gun and the such. Cannon fodder once they're fired.

There's a couple german guns that are bigger though, like the Pak97/38 with the 7.5cm gun.

All in all the german ATG's are smaller, though they've considerably more of them.
