Hey all. I recently acquired CC5 and have been trying to play in under Windows XP SP1 on gamespy. It'll launch the game, but all I get is a black screen. Someone suggested it might be a router problem, which is possible. I have a Linksys wireless 802.11g router and connect to it wirelessly with my PC. As far as I know, the firewall is turned off on the router. I don't have a software firewall at all.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi,
I also have router and the game runs fine, i can even host. If your game runs fine in single player, check that u and your opponent have the same mods and versions. Also check if u got the 5.01 patch. You got to have 5.01 patch to play!!

Hello, that the firewall is turned off may not be enough.
i don´t know anything about the linksys router, but you should try out forward ports to your PC...like on following screen...
PC Name Irgendwas = my PC with IP 192.168.1.2

P.S.: Ankommende Dienste = Incoming Services ; Der Dienst wird umgeleitet an = the Service will be Routet at

if you can´t open ports 2300 to 2400 in one string (so u would have to open them single) you should look for DMZ, but that could be very dangerous! just as living with firewall turned off Wink

Of course each mod upgrade got somes changes... But that dont means that it'snt compatible , but anyway any moder, any experienced player would recommand to anyone to play with the same Mod version, cos if the game will not always crash with a same mod between 2 different Version, the game will be always different, cos someone will play with some things added by upper mod version than he will not get in his own version( IE deleting bug, different units, different VL acces road in map, different up or down armor ratio, etc ....)
Like i said some modification between 2 mod will not crash the game (IE 4 crew in a tank when they are 5 in update, different armor ratio, etccc...)
But anyway it's better to always play with same mod version

The 5.01` patch was to fix a few bugs in reg, but since then all the mods have been based on 5.01 not 5.0 . So the patch is needed to run your mods. hope that clears up the reason you need the patch.. you dont need it to play reg, but you do need it to play a mod.

The port forwarding seems to have fixed the problem. I'm able to play on gamespy now. Thanks very much for your help!
