I have played CC2 for years now, and have searched online in the manual and everywhere i can think of. out of curiosity what do all the colors stand for when you mouse over to fire on an enemy. Not the LOS line, the circle that turns red, yellow, orange, grey, black, dark greay, clear etc..
I figure red yellow and green ar easy enough to figure out. but what about the rest of them? anyone?
I think the Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Black are on the capability of a squad/tanks main weapone penatrating at the specifed distance. Clear I think has to do with ineffective fire. Not sure about the Greys.
Green is likely to hit. Yellow is not too bad, probably will hit. Grey is ok with
black unlikely to do much damage. Red has the least chance of hurting the
unit and clear means the unit is hidden. Hope this helps .
Green = good chance to put your rounds on target
Yellow = mediocre chance to put rounds on target
Red = minimal chance to put rounds on target
Black = you are wasting time even aiming
try and do some experiments with your troops concerning the reticules.
A lot of factors go into the % here.
1. Moral (break your troops and they won't want to fight)
2. Suppression level (place AT Inf in harms way and see the green goto red)
3. Weapon capabilities (take AT inf and light Inf and see the difference)
4. Range (obvious here, but you can try it)
One that affects me mostly is #2, probably because I suck.

It puts the lotion on it's skin; or it gets the hose again!
vs tanks, the color is the probability to penetrate at the weakest spot. weakest spot would be either turret or hull, whichever is less. so a bazooka will get a green circle on a panthers front if the turret is turned to its flank.
grey is worse than red as far as i remember.
black isnt the same as no chance to penetrate, but chance to penetrate is below 5%. so six 17pdrs set up in stone rubble will most likely kill a KT that is approaching, even when the targeting circles are all black.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
