Microsoft patch.
If you're running AMD procs...there's a patch from AMD too.

You mean this?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896256

Code:
Computers that are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and that are equipped with multiple processors that support processor power management features may experience decreased performance

How's the weather in East Java? What's the fastest internet connection you can get there?

Hey, Korinn...still rainy over here.
Fastest internet connection? Broadband is available but pricey...so most stick to cheaper HSDPA Smile

Thanks a lot!

I had to edit the registry, as stated on the page (value = 0), but now I can finally use my monitor to the max and play 1920 x 1200 without extreme lag. The patch is included in SP3 believe, but you have to manually activate it, by adding the registry value.

Mmm, it doesn't work anymore. Seems i got restart windows to get it to work, after that it lags again. I'm trying multicore cpu affinity utilities now.

Are you running intel or AMD?
For AMD...you need to install the AMD X2 drivers/hotfix.

I may have found a solution to the lagging on high resolutions on the dutch Microsoft website. (http://www.microsoft.com/netherlands/ondernemers/techniek/dualcore.aspx)

Edit boot.ini in the root of your C: drive (file is hidden, show hidden files).

Find the line:
Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=”Microsoft Windows XP Professional” /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

put: /usepmtimer at the end of that line.

save, reboot

This tells windows to use synchronize the clock times of both cpu's or something like that. I read on the internet it's only supposed to work for AMD cpu's, but it seems to work for me. I can play 1920x1200 now on most maps of SDK with no lag whatsoever, on some maps the game uses 1280x1024 for some reason (map too small?). I use Windows2000 compatibility mode on the cc5.exe.

I don't know whether this affects performance negatively of apps/other games, but I'm happy for the moment! Smile

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
