Just downloaded and installed karelia, following instructions in the How To's Guide, but when I try to run the game it won't load, gives me an error saying Can't find the directory: Videos. Please reinstall CC5.
But I copied the vids from the disk. Any ideas what's wrong?
btw, really pleased to find this site. Amazing! I'm a CC vet but haven't touched it for a few years now, believing it was all over. Didn't know this site existed - and now with the news from Matrix about Cross of Iron . . . Oh Boy!!

Hi,
That's a very common error which appears with more or less all the mods you install through your ConfigManager!
Just go to your windows explorer and check if you have a the following file existing (even if there is nothing in it!):
Doesn't work. The video file is in there. I copied it from the disk. But for some reason it isn't registering when I startup the game.
You can make an empty folder in CC5 main and call it videos.
When you installed the 5.01 patch, did you get the message cant find cd directory? If not try again, and click on your Cd letter (ex:D) in the windovs that opens, you can click on it even if you have no CD in the reader....
No, I had no message when I installed the 5.01 patch. Everything seems to have gone smoothly. The videos directory transferred fine, and is in the Invasion Normandy folder. But when I try to start up the game from your Finnish CC5.exe icon I get the 'Can't find Videos directory' message. So for some reason, even though the directory is there, the startup isn't detecting it.

Very strange, indeed!
Did you at least try to desinstall/reinstall everything, including your ConfigMag?
Anyway, I've got Der Kessel running fine, so no worries! Played the first two battles (as Russians), but so far its a bit of a walkover against the AI. Lovely sound effects. Do you recommend playing as Russ or German in single player?
Beautiful maps in Der Kessel. Really stunning. I've restarted, playing as Germans as I reckon they'll have a tougher time. Even so, the AI isn't clever or aggressive enough to put up a convincing fight (so far). Looking forward to getting some online play going, as that's really what this is all about.
Great that you guys are doing so much for the series!
I had trouble as well with the files provided on the CCS front page. I downloaded all the proper map files as defined on the CCS homepage thread. After installation of all necessary files, I ran the mod and when I attempted to start an actual game, GC or single game I would get an error message telling me that I was missing a map or map file even though the file was there in the proper maps folder. So I would go and redownload that map/file and then the error would surface again but now for a different map. After about 4 interations I gave up and downloaded the ENTIRE maps zip file (all 44) and reloaded ALL the maps.
It works now like a gem and I'm having fun with the revised mod.
