Actually it sounds like the plugin manager worked perfectly.

Inside the .pln, which is just a renamed zip file, are the files required to be copied into the CC5 directory to run the Meuse mod. If you look within the .pln file you will see a file called install.txt which tells the plugin manager what files to backup/copy somewhere else and which mods files to add. When a mod is uninstalled it reads uninstal.txt to restore the original CC5 game files. You can NOT have CC5 and a mod running at the same time in the same installation directory.

Sure you can play and install more than 1 mod at a time...without using the plugin manager to install and uninstall everytime you want to change mod. The plugin manager can cause errors sometimes.
Backup your CC5 game folder before you install mods...you will need some extra harddisk space...but if you're like me and mostly play JUST CC...then you'll be fine Smile

Make sure you back-up and copy the reg CC5 folder before installing more mods...the plugin manager will install the mods in the standard CC5 game folder.

Your CC games folder should then look something like this:

To play different mods just click the mod's CC5.exe in the separate folders...have fun! Smile

Squadleader

I assume each of those separate folders have their own unique maps folder containing the maps specific to each mod?

Currently I use the Plugin Manager and have a massive maps folder for the 10-12 mods installed.

With the above option, how do you handle sub mods like the Vetmods? Are they separate installs as well or do you swap out a file?

For h2h play - how do you get GameSpy to recognize the mod you want to play? Do you rename the main folder to the default name - Close Combat Invasion Normandy?

I use the plugin manager to install mods...but for every mod I prefer to install them to a fresh reg CC5 folder (cut-and paste from regular install).
The plugin manager is great...but I don't like the fact that when an mod install/uninstall fails (sometimes it happens)...there's no way to fix the problem...only uninstalling and reinstalling CC5 will fix it.
Install the vetmods also...or do it manually if you also play H2H online and need non vetmod configs. Vetmods are mostly just data that go into the Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Base folder only.

Yup, usually for the mod I'm currently playing...I would rename the folder to default name (Close Combat Invasion Normandy).

For single player games...changing mods is a matter of just clicking the different exes...or renaming the folders...faster that install/uninstall. But you need plenty of diskspace reserved just for CC stuff Smile

Thanks

I've got GJS, SAS, Africa, SDK setup already, and working on Stalingrad, UT 1.3 and more today.

I've had increasing trouble with mod swapping lately, getting the black screen of death when launching. It only happens when I freshly change a Mod over in the Config Mgr. ANd then I have a lengthy hard boot process to come back up again (pain in the butt).

This new mod install method will eliminate that problem for me. Thanks for the insite.
