Yes, fair enough, I was talking only about playing against the computer.
I agree that the German sniper´s rate of fire is unrealistically rapid, but I just wanted to make the point that I don´t think it gives the German´s an unfair advantage because
a) - rapid doesn´t necessarily equate with increased accuracy, in fact I think I´d prefer to have an original CC5 German sniper who didn´t just blast off all his ammo in a few minutes
and
b) - the Allied snipers can be just as deadly (see above)

In all I think the mod is absolutely fantastic and, having played as both sides (albeit not H2H) I can´t see anything which REALLY hinders enjoyment of the game.

Stapleton Cotton.....LOL

not trying to be rude here dude.....but your not getting a real fight if your playing the PC .......especially as german!

if you've been up against a real good german player......a real person......and there are lots.......then come back and post your thoughts.

im not a bad player, and i have been kicked off beaches by german players with 2 or 3 snipers and a couple of well placed A/T guns!

GJS is by far one of the best mods out there......dont get us wrong.....it just needs 1 or 2 things fixed....and TRSM didnt fix it in my opinion.
i still play GJS alot.

I don´t see how snipers suddenly become more ACCURATE when in the hands of human players.
The original point made here was that the German snipers should be "fixed" because they are too deadly.
All I was trying to refute was that point. They´re not, they just fire too quickly.

the snipers DO get more accurate. the more kills the sniper has the more experience he gets the more accurate he is.

the other differences are position of the sniper and keeping him alive. the PC just doesnt use him right. in the hands of an experienced real player the german sniper is almost super human.
the allied sniper in most cases, for some reason is not up to the challenge.
try it with a GOOD h2h player.

So very true steiner. I've struggled in gjs getting off the beach(the main aim of the battle) so many times unless the german player pulls his bg bACK.

I'm with Steiner. If I play GJS there are two standing house rules I play with, no German snipers on beach heads and no delibertae targeting open topped vehilces with onboard mortars.

Now given that the German snipers rate of fire is bloody stupid, its not a game stopper on the inland maps. If allowed to deploy them on the beach heads, they stop the allied player cold and its grand campaign over on the second day, thanks for the game mate.

I had one idiot tell me I should crawl my soldiers to avoid getting shot up, this just after he killed my 7 man sqaud on hiding orders in 10 seconds flat with one of his many snipers.

Incidently, I dont play with ANYONE who deploys snipers on BHs. They care too much about win at all costs than having a level playing field.

A snipers effectiveness Improves as the range lessens. If you are getting picked off, pop smoke and charge the suspected position. That and lay down suppression fire into suspected positions. You always have to look at a map and decide what you would do if you were in your opponents shoes. I have often located concealed ATG's just by force firing into a position that I would have used had I been on the other end. Same goes for snipers.

If the shooting stops then chances are you've just suppressed the sniper or forced it to move or maybe even killed one. But you must flush out the snipers position.

I fought a battle the other day and got hit by a sniper. But my position of advance limited where the sniper could have been, so I popped smoke and charged. Found him and killed him with the loss of only one soldier.

Exactly Kevin, its unavoidable to keep looking at the map, spotting fire lines and estimate the sources of fire. Certainly putting smoke screens is necesary, suppresiing suspected positions of snipers. Too often there are not so many places to put a sniper, one should try think where a sniper could be. Course you wont exclude all the loses, often most inf dies on the first beach battle. However its a matter of obtaining terrain and better positions for the next battle.
To be honest - take a skilled mg42, it will be not a worse killer of the infantry lying on the beach than a sniper. And what would you expect of the flat vast of sandy terrain - would it be difficult to spot and hit men lying there? Its not, as the history shows as well. I dont think complaining bout snipers is right. It rather looks like you guys cant use the opportunities of the game and the equipment to elimiinate the danger of snipers.
