it was meant to be pictures of this batle, but i forgot to take any. Embarassed

GJS Grand campaign 2

Frazzer is playing as the Allied and I as the Germans.

We are playing with Line settings.
Battle ends by taking all VL, and holding them for 2 min or if the morale gets too low.

The first map is Gold beach

Ost.441 716th INF Div Vs. 69th brig 50th INF div

With elements from 79 armoured and
8th armoured battalion

In this battle i had:
1 Pak 40
1 Pak 43/41 8.8cm
1 Flak 38
2 Mg34
1 8cm Mortar
And lots of Osttruppen

I ordered my soldiers to take defensive positions in the bushes facing the beach.
From there i could see almost everything and the troops also got good cover.
The bushes served our purposes well, they blocked the way for Frazzer’s tanks, gave a lot of cover and
good hard points to defend.

Frazzer moved in with infantry to secure the bushes but got hammered by mortar and MG fire.
But some of them managed to cross the field and in to the bushes. They tried to
force my soldiers out by tossing hand grenades and TNT.
In the midst of all the chaos a Churchill AVRE moved up the road and took the Gap and nailed the Flak 88 that was hiding south of the gap.
My Pak 43/41 had a clear shot from the house west of the gap and wrecked the Churchill with 2 AP rounds.
The commander of the tank never knew what hit him.
3 surviving crew members fled in to the bushes north of the gap and ran in to a Zugführergrupp and every one except the driver got killed.
Seeing his dead comrades he raised his arms in surrender.

Frazzer’s reprisal was in the form of naval fire directed at my unit fighting in the bushes south of the Gap.
By a miracle only 4 soldiers got killed.
By this time Frazzer made an attempt to overrun the positions in the north with infantry which,
failed when they got cut down by Private Buzarbayev, the gunner of a MG34.

In the south the situation turned critical,
more and more English soldiers came assaulting my positions and a Sherman DD began pouring fire on my soldiers.
I ordered a retreat to the bunkers and the 8cm mortar began laying out smoke to cover the retreat.
Now Frazzer moved his second DD Sherman to the gap and got nailed by my Zugführergrupp that later had captured the British tank driver.
They threw Molotov’s and grenades and by luck destroyed the tank and captured all except 3 crew members which died in the blast.

Frazzer realized that there was no use in trying to go through the gap, so he tried to go through the bushes.
This manoeuvre failed when his tank got tracked.
The commander of the Pak 43/41 spotted the immobilized tank and ordered the crew to destroy the English tank.
The crew fired a 8.8cm AP round and destroyed the tank.
By that shot the battle was over.
Both sides had suffered heavy losses and agreed to a truce.

The British got control over Gold beach and the road to Juno beach.
The rest of the VL remains in German hands. And in the end of the battle my Zugführergrupp reclaimed the gap.

The result of the battle is a decisive victory for the Germans.
