Is anyone else amazed he is in the United States? When I first heard he was coming, I had to find out again from another source. I guess he just has some extreme views, and we are not at war with him afterall. Its just the way the media has portrayed him that made me suprised he could even come to North America, and I am amazed he wanted to come.

They only let him in because his country is still apart of the united nations and also dissallowing him would further strain relations throughout the middle east and give him a chance to say " see the united nations and america is a sham it is not a democracy. its all just politics at the mo but give it time. i believe israel will maybe even strike them in the near future. they cannot afford to allow the iranians to achieve nuclear capabilities after the statements he has made. all my opinion only of course Smile

Well reported over here.. so no supprise, and i think the more talk the better the relations... everybody deserves their own rice bowl.. heres hoping some intelligent agreements come out of it, and that both sides adhere to there " non- aggresion pact" .. life continues... calling the Iranian president's political demeanor " somewhere left of Gengis Khan" as i read today made me laugh.. nothing could be further from the truth... so media beat up's aside some factuall reporting of what is agreed between the two party's will be interesting reading, and then down the road a year or two we will find out what was actually meant at this meeting.,.

I saw a quick clip on the news, where the host gave him a good serve for denying the holocaust.

He wouldnt repeat his holocaust denial, but he did say some thing I thought interesting. He said basically if the holocaust is true, why are the Palestinian people being punished for it?

I dont agree with his thinking, but it does give an insight into the Middle Eastern / Muslim view of history and politics.

Back when 9/11 happened, he wanted to place a wreath on the site, but was denied for no apparent reason.

I dont know, I can give my interpretation of what he said.

See the Israel – Palestine conflict.

Palestine lived there, some Jews to, Jews moved there in large numbers during and after WW2 - (83 000 before WW2 to 608 000 in 1946. The Arabs was 1,85 million by then. *)
Jews wanted an own state, resorted to terrorism vs the Britt’s, (blow up the Britt HQ etc, killing the UN envoy F. Bernadotte etc).

UN divided Israel and did so in favour of Jews, maybe for bad conscience for Holocaust.

Jews declared the independent State of Israel. Arabs found the UN resolution unacceptable and small Palestine – Israeli war in 1947. In 1948 Arab states assaulted Israel.
Many Palestine was driven out by Israel’s forces to neighbour nation. Israel doesn’t let em back into Israel, homes property confiscated.
In 1949 there was 914 000 Palestine living in refugee camps. In 2005 there was 4.4 mil Palestine refugees around the world, of em 1.3 million still live in camps.*

Inside Israel, an apartheid system, the Palestine still lived there dint have the same rights.
This made more anger and resistant, more hate and “justified” Israeli measures, more anger etc etc, downward spiral..

So what the president mean? I believe he meant UN/World let the Palestine down, and world let Jews "punish" the Palestines, as in should not the Nazi be punished instead? Or if it happen why we let the apartheid and "etnic clensing" go on, if its so wrong??:
Israel’s was given a favour due to bad conscience from the world, Paletine pay the bill.
We let Israel’s apartheid due to race and religion, and we do nothing about it.
The Israel’s doesn’t follow the UN resolutions and human rights, we do nothing about it (is it so when a Arab nation do the same?).
And I assume he mean USA support Israel economy and military, without that help they would not be able to do what they do = hate USA = anger West.

Any other thoughts??

* = UN source
(Edit = adding a number)

Very well put Stalky. It is hard to stick to straight facts on this issue, it's been used as propaganda and half truths by both sides for 60 years. Thanks for putting comments that are your opinions in italics and quotes.

What the crazy Iranian was saying, is that the Isreal/ Palestinian conflict is the source of most Middle East conflict today.

What do you think of Obadiah Shoher's views on the Middle East conflict? One can argue, of course, that Shoher is ultra-right, but his followers are far from being a marginal group. Also, he rejects Jewish moralistic reasoning - that's alone is highly unusual for the Israeli right. And he is very influential here in Israel. So what do you think? uh, here's the site in question: Middle East conflict

Everything happening in the middle east today is part of the plan by the UN to implement their "New World Order" system of one government.

The US forces are there permenantly and either Iran or Syria are likely the next targets. Speculation is that Iran will be attacked sometime between April and September of 2008

No matter how nutty the things Ahmadinejad may say. Most are in jest and he's not as evil some make him out to be.

I thought it was particularly distasteful how Columbia University's President (I believe) introduced him. Giving him a thrashing as an introduction is horribly unprofessional. He just tried to look good for the US after he let Ahmadinejad come to the campus. That president is a blowhard...
