Is it possible to cripple/destroy bridges in any of the Close Combat games?. I've never seen it happen and doubt that it can be done, just curious.

It occurs in Meuse. The mod maker placed explosives on the bridge that blow when certain spots are hit on the bridge. The main stone bridge then prohibits all units from crossing. A pontoon bridge likewise blows, blocking all units for a period of time and then allowing infantry only to cross.

But I do NOT believe that a bridge can be destroyed with normal fire unless it has been Modified as noted above in Muese.

There is CC II of course.

Was there not once a CC III mod called "Bridges" in which all bridges were rigged to blow? I am not sure how this worked but it may have been in the Elements file - bridges were replaced with explosives.

great topic.

it is totally possible to blow the bridges and not have them passable to either inf or vehicles.
it was something i looked at for some time.
but since i learnt how to make the vehicle wreck of a vehicle stay in its place for the following gc battle on the same map.
i just park a tank on the bridge, infantry can get pass the wreck, but enemy vehicles cannot.
this also works for major crossroads in DDay Utah Sector

Forget words, actions will show your true ambitions! The Battlefield,In many cases, the terrain of a battlefield can be the best resource a commander has. A clump of trees, an abandoned house, or a drainage ditch can all be powerful tools in the right hands

It would be cool if an aircraft could fire rockets or drop his payload to destroy a section or most, of the bridge.

You can do that but 1 you would waste your support when a mortor or a shot from probably any gun could do the same.
And 2 the support is too hit or miss as to when/if it comes.

Most of the bridges in CC are small and pass over shallow water. Mobile unit's can drive strait through those section's anyway, which makes this tactic useless.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
