I recently started playing this game again. Its from 1999. Its not that much different that CC. You get a maximum of 12 units. Each unit has limited projectile/missle ammo, unlimited laser shots. Pilots have skill levels, they can be injured or killed. Your mechs can be disabled, destroyed, arms or legs shot off, weapons shot away... the damage model is actually nice and detailed. There is LOS but not as finite as CC.. the mechs are so tall they can shoot over most anything anyways. Everything on the maps are destroyable. There is campaign in single battle options as well as multiplayer up to six. Its 2d (3d'ish) top down real time action.

I played Mechcommander alot when it was just released, an excellent game, very exciting.

Bought it because i played the Battletech boardgame, and the game is very very similar, they did a good job.

Microsoft had some awesome games back then.

-CC2,3 and 1
-Age of Empires 1 & 2
-Urban Assault
-That one where you fought aliens and could use a variety of jump suits, 3rd person. Forgot what is called but I spent a few too many hours in that!
