Minefields
Some maps have minefields. Given that a unit is passing through a minefield, there is a percentage that somebody will be hit.
Engineers are of course trained as infantry first. If an engineer BG is passing through a minefield, the minefield should be cleared with few if any losses. When the next friendly BG enters the map it can pass through the minefield safely.
If the map has no enemy, the action is done at the strategic level, not the tactical level.
Bridges.
If a BG has “X” men within a circle of “Y” meters from a bridge, the player sees a demolition button appear on his screen. He does not have to blow the bridge but if he presses the button the bridge will blow.
Rivers would be placed near the edge of a map. Basically if the bridge is blown, then no units can cross the river. If you cannot cross the river you cannot capture the VL and therefore cannot move to the adjacent map.
If you blow a bridge to stop the enemy advance, and you are on the wrong side of the bridge at the time, you cannot cross the destroyed bridge to withdraw to the adjacent map. You would need to vacate the map via a different VL.
Looking at the strategic map, any map with a bridge that is capable of being blown is marked with a green light. Any map with a bridge that is capable of being rebuilt is marked with a blue light. Both sides can sides this information
If you can move an engineer unit onto a map with a blue light the bridge is rebuilt after “Z” hours”. This activity is carried out at the strategic level, not the tactical level.
If the map is attacked or partially occupied by an enemy unit the bridge building immediately ceases
The movement type for an engineer unit would be designated “wheeled” because they carry bridges on the back of trucks.
I think if a Bridge Too Far there was such a thing that you get to blow up the bridge if you control it. The next day simply an improvised bridge is constructed by the enemy.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
