PostPosted: Fri Nov 07, 2008 2:38 pm Post subject: Can we add two different voice files for the same teams.txt? Reply with quote

I would like to know if we can add by example, on alsteams.txt, two nations, US and UK, US would use the USvox.sfx file and UK the UKvox.sfx file, UK would be the nation 2 on game.
Reading it..........it should run if I add it
3
0 US
1 GE
2 UK

# Nations.txt defines the number of nationalities available and the file naming convention for each.
#
# The first line contains the number of nations in the file, max is 8
#
# Each subsequent line contains "side<white space>Nation file abbreviation"
#
# Side = 0 (Allied) or 1 (Axis)
#
# Nation file abbreviation = A two letter abbreviation that will make up nationality-specific file names.
#
# These files names are:
# \DATA\BASE\??Names.txt
# \LocalFx\??Vox.sfx (Native language voice files)
# \LocalFx\E??Vox.sfx (English w/accent voice files)
#
# If the specified voice sound file is not found the game will default to using USVox.sfx.

0 US
1 GE

No?

I would think that it should read:

3
0 US
1 GE
0 US

looks like you've got if Firefox. Just add UKNames.txt to you data files, and UKVox to the LocalFX like it says.

Yes I made it the first time that I tested it and I obtained one error telling me about the nations.
The unique thing to me is if I can add on alsteams.txt one team with 2 on nation and the others with 0. I´m not sure from this.

Yes, you can add teams with a nation of '2' to the alsteams.txt...just make sure that you have defined it in the nations.txt file and those above mentioned fx files

It does not run. I add one EUKvox.sfx and one UKvox.sfx, one UKnames.txt and this on nations.txt
3
0 US
1 GE
2 UK
And game give me the error "invalid number of nationatilies on nations.txt", it is the error if I edit the nations.txt with excell and with notepad, it tells me "invalid side value 2 for nation 2 on nations.txt. All this is very strange, I think that there are some bad on instructtions or it is not possible.

Firefox...those values are wrong.
lemon42 already pointed that out to you.

It should be:

3
0 US
1 GE
0 UK

So UK is Nation number "2" for the database, but for UK, Side = 0 (Allied)

I hope that helps...

Good job, Firefox!
Don't forget that you can now also add British rank graphics and British medals for the Brits.
They don't have to share the same rank and medals gadget with the US anymore.

There are placeholder slots in the gadget files for ranks and medals for every country definced in the nations.txt file...so you should have no trouble adding them

Firefox,
You can place ranks and medals according to Nation code at the SORANK*** and SOMEDAL*** gadget slots. There are enough slots for 8 Nations now (awesome job S3T! Very Happy)

Try the GJS gadgets.
The Brit/Commonwealth Medal Gadgets from JimRM's Afrika40-41 looks great too.

There are Brit ranks and medals in my BoS45 (demo) mod...but the ranks are in tropical jungle green uniform (Brit Far East Troops gear) of course Smile

Probably I will to try contact him. Thanks by the info. The color from uniform is not too important because I can change it easyly but I need the ranks. I´m not a WWII fan with many of stuff about it, I only want play and fun me.
