Hi Guys,
I figured this would be the best place to try out this cry for help
I downloaded WaR and the patch as well. I installed them both, even monkeying with my virus protection settings like they told me to during installation. But when i click to play, i get a "Close Combat Error" It simply says: "not available"

What gives? Has anybody seen this issue before? I cannot imagine what the problem would be. Someone please tell me if they've seen this. I 'd be very grateful for the help.

Yours,

Looks to me like direct X problems.
WAR needs directdraw enabled...unlike CC5.
Check your direct X settings.

Type "dxdiag" into the run box or "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxdiag.exe".

What OS are you using? If Vista you might have to change your permissions.

What version of DirectX? It requires DirectX 9.0c.

Have you tried going to the game directory and clicking on the CCE.exe? Maybe it is a path issue with the short cut the icons have....

Thankyou all for your quick and helpful help. I got it worked out - the dxdiag thing was the solution.

Off to playing (and getting spotted from way too far away by the Germans (Wink

BTW, Squadleader - thankyou for finally bringing the Gurkhas to CC. I can't wait.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
