Don't use the tool myself, as I don't want the MS java and MS .net loaded on my system.
Anyway, looks like BGedit was designed from the start to work with adb and txt files as the file format is described in tables.ini. Hopefully you will be able to use it again thanks to yukongold!
Great news about BGEdit...Spreadsheet apps are no competition for this tool
Now...still waiting for "new" StratEdit so we can start talking about mods with more than 44 maps and still keep modding the StratMap a fun project and not a "X,Y coordinates puzzle" problem...not to mention the graphics chore cutting up the little graphic pieces .
With just 44 maps...we can still use StratEdit for graphics...but the "X,Y coordinates puzzle" txt file still looms around the corner
...and how about adding user friendly headers for the Brilliant and easy new system of txt files?
Without headers...you can't blame modders for preferring adbs and Qclone.
Really I do not understand the problem from mod the game with txt files, I always have thought bad things about adb files, they always were a problem because you needed one special and strange program if you want edit them. Next the Qclone copy and paste is not good for me if you compare with the system from Excell. Without these txt files, we would be waiting a new program for edit all them many months or years, I´m sure that you remember Close Combat Marines and Qclone problems. Qclone again? no sir, please the txt are perfect.
About be many time making a mod. I repeat again, I have been making a mod for 2 or more years on CC5, mods take time and you will not make new things on few time.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
