As an ex CC3 junkie, whos original copy got nerfed by a loving friend, i ended up buying COI.

The sounds in COI suck big time. and i need to establish whether its possible to download a file to mod the sounds back to the original. The coi sounds are just all over the place acoustically (re: 2cm pak...sigh...)

They tried to make an allready great game better, and stuffed certain elements, (sounds specially). I thought it was a re-issue, but it isnt. Its someone's pet project realised by modding a great game with certain stuff that didnt need to be changed...

i realise this is the cc3 forum. But the coi thread doesnt look as popular (now i know), so i thought i might get more hits in here...

any help would be awesome

They did the same thing with WaR, and most likely TLD - which I don't have. I agree, they should leave the original sounds as is, they're quite good or good enough. In WaR they really screwed up the sounds, like the MG-42, it's really annoying.  Rolling Eyes

My guess is if you download the CC3 demo you will get the original sound... worth a try?

you can get it here

you may need to edit the data files a little though

Yeah, I have the trial version, I doubt I'll take the time to make another soundmod though. Perhaps RD_DeathDealer will make one.  Wink

Could you be more specific?  Which sounds and why...?

Not really that bothered.  I am happy with the sounds in both of them, but such a sweeping statement does invite explanantion, so I'm curous...

I didn't realize, RD_DeathDealer does have soundmods for CoI.   Very Happy

The sounds aren't that bad in CoI. Some sounds are louder than others, the mortar explosion when the shell hits the ground is kinda lame, and I miss the birds chirping like in CC3. They did keep some original sounds - which is nice. The battlefield is pretty quite due to lack of ambient sounds.

it is my understanding that the MG42 sound is an MG42...  I think the allies found it very annoying.

It's the echo that goes along with it that's annoying. Listen to the game with headphones.

That is a real MG42.  From personal experience firing such weaponry (.303, .762 rifles, GPMG, Stirling SMG etc) in the open, you often do get ambient delayed background echo/feedback, but reverb would be unrealistic unless in an enclosed space.  I'll take another listen and see what I think.  Must admit I hadn't really noticed...

Several of the sounds in WaR are from the Call of Duty Series, their from real weapons. I'm pretty sure they got the idea from my soundmod for CC5. Wink  The sounds in WaR aren't nearly as bad as I remember. But I stuck to using RD_DeathDealer's soundmod not long after buying WaR. The MG-42 would have been better without the reverb in my opinion.

No sounds are from Call of Duty

the new sounds are actual recordings of the weapons
