The explaination is in the included ReadMe text file that came with gadgtool:
gadgtool - export/import the Gadget files
Very crude - I didn't bother to flip the images in this rapidly thrown
togethor program. Most paint programs have a "flip" function you'll
need to use that for now. On the plus side extracting the 1600+ images
in gadget0 takes less than 15 seconds on my PC.
To use, copy this program to a directory with one of the gadget
files, then run "gadgtool ext Gadget0" (example for Gadget0)
This makes a whole bunch of tga files you can edit (but don't
delete any, change their names or sizes)
Then, running "gadgtool imp Gadget0" will rebuild the gadget
file and you copy it to your graphics directory
Use a different directory to do the same with Gadget1, because
it uses the same file names and will overwrite Gadget0's tgas
From what I can tell, Gadget0 is the stuff from the command screen
and Gadget1 is the stuff for your map screen.
Update for gadgtool v1.1: Support for CCImages.fx is included,
run as 'gadgtool exp Images' and 'gadgtool imp Images', any images
you edit, you must 'flip'. Ones you don't edit are ok.
