Not sure if this is a training issue or request for a change but when using an elevation greyscale image can the min and or max elevation be set?
If not, could that be added to the enhancement wishlist please???

Hello Tejszd, hello to all other 5CC-users!
I have uploaded a new version, 1.17f1:
- debugged the "Prefernces", and
- added a new data action "Elevation range":
go there after loading the greyscale. Enter the lowest and highest elevation in the first row of your actual "reference elevation range", for example the current lowest and highest values. In the row below enter the new "elevation minimum" and the new "elevation maximum", then press the button "Calculate". You will be asked if you want to change the entire map. Press "Yes", and you will have a new elevation range. Values to enter must be positive integer values (no decimals, no negative values, lower value must be less than higher value). No checking for input integrity. Undo is possible via CTRL-Z / CMD-Z from within the main editor window only. I hope this helps. It was easir to implement it this way rather than integrating it into the greyscale import dialog and it gives you the opportunity to use it at any time.
Cheers
Mafi

Hi Tejszd,
Please trash the preferences file "5CC.ini" file if nothing helps. Or easier: perform CTRL-click on the text "for CCWaR maps:" and "for CCLSA maps:" to change these entries via a special little window with dark green background.
Cheers
Mafi

Hi Tejszd,
sorry for all these troubles:
- another update is necessary, there was a bug in the "Greyscale image to elevation" calculation.
- Actual version is now v1.17f2
Cheers
Mafi

Love the new elevation features Mafi!!!
add -1 to shallow water
add 1 to rail
change a map from 0-255 (built using a grey scale map) to 10-25
Would be possible to add the tree shadow and stump for all coded trees? Some of the maps are being coded in 3C or by people without the tree shadow/stump graphics...

No Michael, you did it your way and selected the \Data\Base\Elements file. I said to select the CCWaRElements.txt file found in the \5CC v1.17\TerrainElementsTables\ folder.
p. 15 - "In addition to these two formats (CC2&3), 5CC can use its own terrain element file format..."
p. 16 - "The 5CC package contains ready-to-use terrain elements files for CC4, CC5, RtB, CCM, CoI, CCMT and CC:WaR in CC3-format, too."

After creating a new Elements file for WAR I see that when used it doesn't break down in categories in 5CC anymore.
I really like that feature and would like to continue with that, but how do I do it?
My new Elements are at the end of the existing one for WAR.

Wishful thinking on my part would be to select an element and then be able to select an area and then be able to replace said element in just that selected area with a new element..

Hello platoon_Michael,
you can do this with the tools already built in:
- select the terrain data element you want to paint with from the window "Terrain",
- select the "Flood-Fill" tool from the window "Tools",
- move the editing pointer on the map to the center of the area you want to change,
- mouse click on the center of the area and the "Flood-Fill" with fill the area below the mouse pointer with the selected data element up to the boundaries of the area.
- voila. All other kinds of "area selection" are not implemented in 5CC. Sorry.
Concerning "Categories" in the Terrain element lists: you must define categories also for those elements you have added to existings lists. Use existing lists as a template. Have you used 5CC istself for editing these files? Then there might be a bug in 5CC... just check the resulting files with MS-Excel.
BTW: actual version is 5CC v1.22, see http://cc2revival.npage.de/
Cheers
Mafi
