One should never forget, that Hitler was founded the SS, to have an opposing against the SA. Therefore, all decision-makers of the SS-founding generation knew, which was one of the essential main tasks: to protect Hitler. The killing of the SA-leader Röhm is therefore a prime example of the bondage of the SS against the "Führer". It is significant, that most SS units in Berlin in 1945 rendered the fiercest resistance. At a time, when many key commanders of the Wehrmacht saw, that the war was lost.
Fanaticism for the "leader" Hitler was an essential element of the SS. This is a fact of the historian's view. I do not claim, that every young SS soldier knews, that his unit was a unit of ideology and crime! Many things happened for a time-bound false idealism. But the final bill of this force must be very negative.
But you must allways know: The youth of 1939/45 was not not the generation, that had selected Hitler in 1933!
The real culprits of the war are very often looking at the generation of parents, teachers and politicians.
In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
