Forum: Modding Workshop Posted: Mon May 04, 2009 7:25 am Subject: Multiple installations? |
This is not strictly a modding question, but it relates to mods. I have played a game called Panzer Elite, and was actively involved in the modding community for it. Due to the extensive number of mods, we usually installed the game multiple times on our computers.. This alleviated the need to interchange information each time one wished to play a different mod, and also it meant that different mods could have maps with the same name without having to interchange map folders.
Is it possible to do something similar with CC3? I enjoy many of the excellent mods that have been made here, but it would be nice not to have to switch them around when I want to take a break from one and switch to another.
EDIT: It seems that I have found the answer to the question in the tech support form, in this thread. Mods, please feel free to remove this thread, although it might be helpful for future reference to add a link to the other thread to a sticky in this forum? |

Forum: Close Combat 3: The Russian Front Posted: Mon Sep 01, 2008 5:31 am Subject: Englander Mod map issue |
Mods, please move this to the appropriate forum if necessary - I did not see a forum dedicated to this mod.
Playing the Englander! campaign from the German side, I have reached a point where the game crashes whenever I try to go back to my game with the error 'cannot find StMartin.mmm.' I could not find this map offered among the individual maps, nor on a brief search on google. Might anyone know where this map is offered?
I should note for the record that there is another map which caused a crash issue when I tried to start the Normandy campaign, but I don't recall the name. |

That was very odd. I followed your instructions. First time I ran the Config Manager, it crashed before it could finish loading. Second time, it worked just fine and let me install.
Thanks for your help. What exactly was the config manager doing up till now (I don't quite see why this fixed it, I guess - I am not too familiar with the CM, though, although I am pretty familiar with the mod enabler for Panzer Elite, which seems to work similarly). |

When you download the plugin, are you unzipping it to the /plugins folder?
|
Yes.
I have successfully installed/uninstalled a number of other mods: Ardennes Offensive, Ardennes VetBob, and Bloody Omaha for example, so I don't think that this is a problem with method, unless there is something unusual about installing this particular mod. But, it didn't seem unusual based upon the directions linked above.
To be specific, I have the GJSv44.pln file in the plugins directory for my config. utility. |

I went back through that guide from the start (actually I had used it the first time as well), but got the same error. |

When I use the config manager to try to install this, I get an error 'plug-in GJSv44 does not have an install.txt file.' Any idea what causes this? |

excellent, thanks very much.
EDIT: This is quite strange. When I try to run that scenario now, it has an error that it cannot find "maps\nce into .txt" (I put the spaces just as it has them). Any idea what is causing this, and how to fix it?
EDIT 2: Well, I fixed it, although I have no idea why this worked, by unininstalling and reinstalling a bunch of stuff including the map stuff and the Ardennes mod. Very strange.
Thanks for your help! |

I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I didn't see a forum dedicated to this mod.
While playing through this mod (which I enjoyed immensely; my main disappointment with CC4 was that I could not play with the Königstiger), I arrived at St. Hubert. When I clicked to start the battle, I got the error "cannot find StHubert.txt" and CC5 exited. Checking the maps folder, I noticed that for St. Hubert I only have the file StHubert.btd, and do not have the bgm, btd, los, mmm, ovm, rfm, or txt files which the other maps have. I assume, then, that this is the problem.
Is there anyplace where these may be obtained? Thanks. |
