Player's News: Information on Close Combat Red Phoenix
Posted on Fri Dec 17, 2004 6:25 am by webmaster
Close Combat Player's News Hi everyone.... A link provided at www.ccmarines.com/CCM brings you to a great story on the 2 new Close Combat titles First To Fight and Red Phoenix. The article gives you some insight on how RP is going to play. Heres an excerpt.....

"Red Phoenix can accommodate up to eight players, who can command a reinforced Marine rifle platoon, a South Korean special forces unit or a North Korean armored company. Destineer says the simulation will use a next-generation 3D engine to recreate authentic Korean terrain. Mortar rounds will blast craters in the ground, and soldiers may dive into them for cover. Animals will scatter out of the way of Humvees.

Red Phoenix's most distinctive feature may be its extensive psychological model for combatants and non-combatants alike. “We track psychology for the civilians. Do they flee? Do they turn and fight? What happens if you kill civilians?” asks Atomic president Keith Zabalaoui, a game developer."

Well that proves it once and for all. RP will be 3D. Since the ground will be reshapable from mortar hits no doubt you will need the next generation graphics cards to play this game. With the option to have 8 players you guys in the country better start thinking about upgrading that shakey 56k internet connection!

The full article is here (This link is now dead - MOOXE Sept 2010)

Heres a comment that should be interesting...

"Players say, ‘If I have to choose between a fake wargame and one the Marines helped make, the Marine game sounds more interesting..'"

Whats your opinion on that?

What will Red Phoenix look like? Heres some quotes from various articles already on the internet.

"Red Phoenix is being created using a derivative of the Destineer engine."

"The new 3D engine has been created "from the ground up" by Destineer. It offers what the company describes as "next-generation" features, such as natural skin lighting and specularity and volumetric shadows."

Heres a game made by Bold Games (under destineer) that uses a 3D engine.

A little bit more investigating will probably yield the engine Red Phoenix will be using.

******************************

L’article complet est içi (This link is now dead - MOOXE Sept 2010)

Quelle est votre opinion la dessus ?

A quoi Red Pheonix ressemblera ? Ici quelques notations d’article divers déjà en ligne.

"Red Phoenix is being created using a derivative of the Destineer engine."

I hope RP doesn't go into the trend of GIC or EYSA. I'd rather prefer it to be then more like Blitzkrieg.

I for one am tired of them jerking around on this.

What little I hear about RP and how much CCM is gonna be a great game leaves me to belive that RP will not be a game I enjoy.
