Close Combat 5 Invasion Normandy This new CC5 mod is called "Contre-attaque sur l'Aisne" and is based on the Aisne battle in France of June 1940. It is unofficially a sequel to the popular Meuse mod.

The mod is 98% ready and my son has been playing it for 2 months without any bugs or problems. However I am still improving the data/base files and some map graphics. I have tried to especially concentrate on the game play, graphics and sounds.

an objection perhaps... I see a BGicon with a traction for Maquisards... but in june 1940 maquisards didn't exist !!

Hi,

I understand your concerns. But I will explain you what if the real topics of the mod:

Basically, I agree, it is a fictional mod, as the background of it is: what could have happenad in june 1940 if General de Gaulle had taken the head of the french government/army and not the infamous Petain?

So, In the mod, you will have three game options/campaigns:

1. The Historical campaign.
In this one you will be able to play with 1000% accurate BG's, weapons etc... that took part of the Aisne battle, early june 1940. That means 17 (only!!!!!) french BG's (7th DLM, 3rd DCR, 3rd DIM, 14th DI, 2nd DI, 36th DI and some minor ones) will fight against actual German BG's.
This part of the mod can be considered as the sequel of the famous Meuse Mod that you already know. The only difference is that I have changed a lot of graphics, weapons, sounds, so that you should discover something very new.
2. The "what-if" Grand Campaign.
In this one, you will play with the exactly the same units as above, plus, for the french, the 4th DCR attacking from the west (from the Somme valley) at half-time of the campaign to support the units fighting on the Aisne valley, and for the germans some units coming as well from the Somme, like the 7th PzD ans the LSSAH .

3. The "fictional" Grand Campaign.
This is a 100% unhistorical - I agree with you..!!) campaign. You will be able to play with the historical units, the units coming from the "what-if" mod and, in addition, 6 very poor maquisards units trying to slow the germans behind the frontline. These units are very funny to play with: of course, no AT guns, no mortars, no tanks or vehicles.. just hunting guns, molotovs, hand-made explosives and so on... oh! I forgot the famous Citroëns, full of "fight to the death" resistants!!!!

What I would like you to understand is that YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY AN ABSOLUTELY 100% HISTORICAL MOD IF YOU WANT. Just play the historical campaign and that's it!!! If you want to play a mod a little more funny, go to the what-if or even the fictional!! That will be your choice!

Please contact me if you want further details. I really think -my son as well, who loves this mod!- that this game is innovative and historical at the same time. IT is user frendly: play it as you prefer!

Cheers,
Panzerjäger

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
