I have spent a bit of time looking at this and haven't drawn any conclusions. As a description:
The area appears to be bisected north south by a railway line of which the most southern part appears to be disused. To the east of the railway town is what appears to be a modern small town, to the west older and less developed.
In the south western corner is a wooded area with a castle like feature close to where the railway appears disused, and also close to a river that appears to have been straightened, possibly to improve drainage but more likely as a canal that can be used for transport.
My first thoughts were this may have been a concentration camp. But I am at a loss.

Hey PW,
What you are looking at is part of a German defence line on the western front in 1944
Just west of the woods is some sort of a castle part of the defence line...
Sorry for the late reply. Private life has kind of taken over!

Yes lestayo you are right. This location was site of one of the first attempts by the US army to cross the so called siegfried line in to german in the region of Aachen. This fight closed a period of relativly light combat actions and opend up a time of heavy combat actions between the Dutch-German border and the rur river.
In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
